Let's blame the ball the altitude...the earth's rotation....but not the keepers

Another day and another TERRIBLE goal given up be a keeper, this time it was Algeria’s Faouzi Chaouchi who conceded a soft goal to Slovenia -

I know, let us blame the ball. Um how about an international keeper trying to save that shot like a volley ball player? What is with the palms, fingers facing down? What about diving to your left and getting your body behind the ball with your hands in front of you to either parry the ball properly or catch it, at worst it hits your body? This coming on the heels of another terrible goalkeeping gaff, this one coming in the England vs USA match -

What happened with getting your body behind the ball and getting your hands in a catching position aka not your palms at a right angle to the shot but in a position to catch the ball? For a reference look at the section on the scoop catch. Green had enough time to see the shot and position himself to make a proper save. What about a forward dive to smother the ball? The shot skipped TWICE on the pitch...you need to attack that ball! Dive forward to attack the ball, do not let it play you!

Of course the word on the street is that it is the fault of the ball, that it "skips" funny. What I do not understand is the ball has been used by teams since DECEMBER! Funny how there was little complaint for the past 6 months, but all of a sudden...it has all these strange properties, dipping, diving, moving like no other. Well maybe this should give Les Bleus some hope, if they could only muster a few shots...
