Congrats to the Girodins de Bordeaux, pulling off the 2-0 victory versus Bayern Munich on the German's turf. Goals from Gourcuff and Chamakh ensure that the French champs are through to the knock out stages with 2 more games to go in the group. This is a huge step for the club after last year where they fell out of the Champions League after being "corrected" by Chelsea in the group stages. Now the true test will emerge, can Bordeaux or Lyon (they too should get to the knock out stage) get past the first round? Will at least one Ligue 1 side make the 1/4 finals...or gasp the 1/2 finals? Granted the ultimate goal is the finals...and a victory, but not since Monaco have a French side made it past the 1/4 finals.
Bordeaux have the pieces in place. Whether or not they have the "bottle" to push through is still to be determined.
